New Opportunities for Teaching Artists with LearningWorks Afterschool!

LearningWorks AfterSchool

Do you or your organization have a talent that you’d love to share with your community?  Are you a visual, musical, or performing artist?  A writer, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) professional, or creator of any kind?  We’re seeking community partners who can provide a resident instructor to join our LearningWorks Afterschool team for extended residencies that will last from now through May 25th 2023.  The resident instructor will attend one day of programming at a single site for 2 to 3 hours of in-person programming per week. The resident instructor will perform one hour of classroom facilitation as well as 1 -2 hours of classroom support, led by a LearningWorks site coordinator.

We are currently looking for resident instructors at Talbot Elementary and Rowe Elementary, both in Portland, ME.  Please see schedules below.

Rowe Elementary School
Mon., Tues., Thurs. 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Wednesdays 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Talbot Community School
Tues., Thurs. 2:10-4:10 p.m.
Wednesdays 1:10-4:10 p.m.

Duties include:

  • Curriculum planning for 1 hour/week of classroom instruction
  • Classroom facilitation for 1 hour/week
  • Classroom support for 1  to 2 hours/week, led by a site coordinator

We are currently working with select community partners and have had great success with this model, and thus are seeking to create additional opportunities for our students. Are you an individual or organization that could bring some fun and creative learning to our classrooms?  Please reach out!

This is a paid opportunity.  For more information, including compensation details, contact LearningWorks Afterschool Portland Director, Zoe Lewin Costa: zcosta@learningworks.me.

Individuals who are looking for a regular 4-day/week Teacher or Ed Tech position at one of our sites can visit our Staff Openings page.
