Biddeford students have been learning about a variety of topics. Kindergarteners focused on friendship around Valentine’s Day, first and second graders explored the solar system, and third and fourth graders learned about the human body through fun STEAM activities. All students enjoyed health and nutrition lessons from the University of New England interns.
Portland students studied engineering, focusing especially on bridge construction. They build their own bridge models to withstand weight, wind, and vibrational stresses. They also did an autobiography unit called My Story, recalling and documenting important events in their lives.
Saco students continued a unit on Manatees in Florida through the Go2Science curriculum. They have been learning about the manatee population and how it is impacted by different environmental factors. They also enjoyed a variety of Valentine’s-themed activities.
Waterboro students have been thoroughly enjoying new STEAM activities from Go2Science. They are learning about invasive species in New Zealand through hands-on projects. A recent highlight was designing caves for glow worms. Students created a cave out of cardboard and hung glowsticks with yarn to simulate the glow worms and the traps they use to catch prey.
