Biddeford summer programming started with a Family Open House where families connected and learned more about the program. They enjoyed games, raffles, and meeting community partners, such as Biddeford Community Gardens. Staff and students are looking forward to a summer of storytelling using stop-motion animation, civil engineering with a “design your own playground” unit, and outdoor trips to popular spots like Mackworth Island and the Trolley Museum.
Portland staff spent the last week in professional development preparing to launch a fun and enriching summer camp experience. This year’s STEM theme, “Hand Pollinators,” will have students exploring the vital role that pollinators play in our ecosystem. Enrichment clubs will include topics such as puppets, fairy houses, boat making, lawn sports, photography, and cooking. Fun events will include a waterworks day and a field day.
Saco students wrapped up their school programming in June with literacy lessons and outdoor clubs. Staff are looking forward to welcoming students back for summer programming this month focused on the ocean. They are currently in the midst of planning and preparing STEM, social emotional learning, and art lessons all focused around the ocean.
Waterboro staff have been hard at working preparing for their summer program. They’re planning on welcoming students back with a unit on animal adaptations created using the Universal Design for Learning framework, which was a staff professional development focus this year.
