Our Biddeford students enjoyed building solar ovens and then used them to make s’mores and other summer goodies. They have also engaged with our Jumpstart partners in a variety of fun activities that are boosting their math and reading skills.
Portland students are immersed in a STEAM unit called “You’ve Got Mail.” Through inquiry-based activities, they are discovering how mail travels as they design their own delivery system. They recently enjoyed a field trip to Mackworth Island – wandering nature trails, observing wildlife, and exploring protections of our natural environment.
Recently, Saco students have expanded their problem-solving and engineering skills through STEM explorations of volcanoes, tree classification, and rainforest habitats. Our budding artists have enjoyed projects like clay creations, sponge art, and airbrushing that strengthen their creativity and fine motor skills.
The Waterboro team has been deeply invested in a STEAM unit called Invention Convention. They are “thinking like inventors” as they identify everyday problems and brainstorm solutions. They will practice teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity as they design, build, and test their inventions in the coming weeks.
