Biddeford is springing into an Ecology unit. We will explore the special ecosystems within Clifford Park, which has over 140 acres of forest, trails, and vernal pools. The Chewonki Foundation’s Bug Mobile will give us a chance to take a close look at insects. April also finds us exploring new topics in Book Club, Math Games Club, and Drama Club. We end the month with a swimming trip to the University of New England’s pool!
Portland is wrapping up our Designing Bridges unit and kicking off a Space Exploration unit. We will conduct gravity experiments and build our own rockets. An Astronomy Club, a Photography unit, and chance to learn about Drones will all be on the calendar. We also had great fun partnering with Portland Community Squash and enjoyed a visit from EcoMaine about recycling.
Saco finished our recent Go2Science Mission – Manatees in Florida! We had a lot of fun making predictions and sharing what we learned about these animals and their habitat. For National Nutrition Month, we focused on nutrition topics and tasted delicious fruits and vegetables!
Waterboro finished a Go2Science Mission! Our students had a blast learning about the culture and invasive animals of New Zealand – especially the Kiwi! We also started a new cooking club. Students have been researching various nutritious meals we will be cooking.
