LearningWorks offers the following programs:
LearningWorks AfterSchool provides extended learning opportunities for elementary school aged children in grades 2 - 5 who are falling behind academically. It will serve 340 students in Biddeford and Portland over the coming year with extended day learning designed around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.
LearningWorks AmeriCorps AIMS HIGH serves schools in Livermore/Jay, North Anson, Solon, Embden, South Portland and Portland.
BOT serves youth in York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, and Oxford Counties. BOT provides individual and group therapy for youth with anger issues and who are making poor choices, to help them get their lives headed in a positive and productive direction.
ELP provides language instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and cultural literacy skills to new immigrants and refugees in order to help them get jobs or go on to higher learning.
GB busts graffiti all over the City of Portland. Students complete their community service requirements while learning new skills and gaining appreciation for the property of others.
LVGP provides one-on-one tutoring to 150 illiterate adults and families providing instruction in reading, writing, and English language skills for new Mainers.
SW provides opportunities to juvenile offenders and suspended students to fulfill community service requirements, learn life skills and experience the rewards of helping others.
TCM works in southern and central Maine with at-risk youth who need assistance navigating the mental health system or who need skill development to get their lives back on track.
This year, approximately 85 youth, who have dropped out of the public schools, will receive an alternative education, GED preparation, job skills, life-skills and leadership development. Students will be assisted in interviewing for jobs and in gaining acceptance to institutions of higher education.
