JOB SUMMARY:

LearningWorks Afterschool (LWAS) serves low-performing students in preK-grade 3 in Biddeford School Department and grades 2-5 in Portland, South Portland, and Waterboro. Students participate in hands-on engineering design challenges that embed literacy, math, and social emotional learning, to build key skills for school success: academic confidence, taking initiative, problem-solving, communication, and perseverance.

The Ed Tech in the LearningWorks Afterschool Program will be responsible for supporting the Teacher in preparing and delivering a 4-day/week school year program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum, and enrichment activities (health/wellness, cultural, social-emotional learning). LWAS team members receive high-quality training in academic instruction, classroom management, and childhood development, so extensive prior experience in education is not required.

While LWAS intends to provide in-person programming if circumstances allow, Ed Techs must have the flexibility to pivot between possible remote, hybrid, and in-person scenarios as needed throughout the school year.

Beyond student contact hours, time is allotted to attend meetings and professional development.

This is a part-time, fixed term school year position.  Start dates are indicated, end dates are subject to change based on snow days.
