The LearningWorks Aim High program places teams of dedicated AmeriCorps members in elementary schools to support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Members provide tutoring, mentoring, and extended learning opportunities in and outside of the classroom. Aim High helps build stronger schools and communities throughout Southern Maine.

Join the AmeriCorps team!
As a member of the LearningWorks AmeriCorps team, you will gain hands-on experience working with students in one of four local schools, effecting meaningful change in your community. You will improve your leadership abilities and learn essential professional skills while mentoring and tutoring students, supporting teachers in the classroom, and developing projects that will excite and engage young learners.

Aim High’s AmeriCorps members receive professional development training in academic instruction, classroom management, and community building. Full-time and half-time members receive a living allowance. Once service is complete, all members are eligible to receive a Segal education award that can be used towards tuition, future educational opportunities, or to pay qualified student loan debt. Over two hundred colleges and universities across the country acknowledge the value of AmeriCorps service by matching Segal education awards. See the full list here.
