Youth Building Alternatives

YBA is a nationally accredited educational program that works with young men and women who have dropped out of high school. YBA provides classroom instruction toward passing the GED exams and job-site skill training for future employment.

Youth Building Alternatives recruits young men and women who:

  • are 16-24 years old
  • have dropped out of school and/or are on probation
  • have an interest in pursuing a GED or preparing for post-secondary education
  • have an interest in learning about the building construction trades
  • are able to make a 9 month commitment to the program
  • meet the low-income guidelines

YBA students regularly give back to the community in the form of Service Learning projects and volunteer service.

YBA is now a part of a national evaluation studying the effectiveness of Youth Build programs. Due to the evaluation, we will now use a random process to decide who will be enrolled in the program. Eligibility requirements remain the same, and students should continue to be referred as in the past.

This program is sponsored in part by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. LearningWorks is an equal opportunity employer. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
