Interested in working one-on-one with an at-risk youth, immigrants or refugees?

In just four hours a month, you can be the positive change in someone’s life. Become a mentor for an at-risk youth with our Youth Building Alternatives program or act as a culture guide for an immigrant or refugee. By sharing your time, knowledge, and experience, you can help our learners progress towards their goals and ambitions.

As a mentor with Youth Building Alternatives you’ll be a friend, resource, and supportive role-model for an at-risk student. Over the course of 15 months, for a minimum of 4 hours a month, you can actively affect change within the community as you assist your mentee achieve his/her long-term goals.

As a mentor for a recent immigrant or refugee, you’ll have the opportunity to help a New Mainer as they learn to navigate his/her new life in the Portland Area. Mentors play an invaluable role in helping mentees find assistance and services, establish connections, and advocate for their needs as they increase their confidence and self-sufficiency skills.

--Attend one of our bi-monthly orientations/trainings to learn more about how to be an effective mentor. A past mentor will be present to share their own our experiences with the mentoring process.

--Get matched with a student and begin meeting!
